Napoli's Transfer Market: Scotto on Lucca and Allegri's Striker Needs

With continued travel bans and the transfer market nearing its close, numerous current topics at Napoli were analyzed with journalist Giovanni Scotto. Speaking to our Radio Tutto Napoli, the premier 24/7 dedicated Napoli radio station, he shared his thoughts on the day's issues.

"Unfortunately, the death of Belardinelli in 2018, during that ill-fated Boxing Day match, set a precedent that, nearly ten years later, still results in this away travel ban. This is not a solution. Prohibiting civil fans, especially those living in Campania, from attending a match is simply unjust and detrimental to the entire sport. I fear there's a lack of political will to seriously address the problem. Shutdowns are always the easiest solution, but also the most dangerous, as it risks an endless cycle of these measures. Banning all residents of Campania is not a solution. The troublemakers should be identified and prevented from buying tickets, and only them. The issue is that these individuals, despite being known to law enforcement, are often not subject to fan bans (Daspo) or other specific restrictions. Targeted action supported by new regulations is needed, as the state cannot prevent a free citizen from buying a ticket. However, regarding public order, restrictions could be considered for individuals deemed at risk. We cannot cast a wide net; politicians should work to protect families, young people, and women who simply want to support their team."

What is the status of Napoli's player sales? Ngonge, Cajuste, and Lindstrom, as well as Mazzocchi? And regarding forwards?

"Football is often simpler than one might think. When you see an opposing forward like Malen score three goals on the opening day, you understand that the competitiveness of rivals is increasing, even without considering Inter, who have already proven their strength. Therefore, if Allegri doesn't find a different striker than Lucca, he will work with him to improve him, unless he finds someone better. However, this doesn't mean the coach wants to keep Lucca; he would like another quality forward to add to the team, potentially alongside Lucca. Manna still hopes to sign Gabriel Jesus. The Guiu option remains alive, though it's currently distant. Napoli is offering 15 million euros, while Chelsea is asking for 25 million, but the deal could still be unlocked even if Lang doesn't depart. Napoli will therefore wait for the next match."
