Juric After Inter: "Good First Half, Proud of the Boys"
Following the 4-1 defeat to Inter, Monza's coach Ivan Juric spoke to DAZN. He shared his thoughts on the match.
Regarding the turning point of the game, influenced by Zielinski's goal, are you satisfied with your team's performance today?
"Today, we truly played with young lads, and we performed exceptionally well. I am immensely proud of them. It was our first time at San Siro, and we were missing six players. We still need to build and complete the squad. It's a shame the 2-1 scoreline came from a mistake on our part, but we were good in the first half. My only regret is that we had several good opportunities in the first half where we could have executed better."
Coach, the mentality you aim to instill is crucial for building towards your objectives.
"No, I believe in the first half, we only conceded two shots, and otherwise, they didn't create much against us. In fact, we created a lot. I think the boys were fantastic. I am proud. We've been working for a month and a half, and we've elevated them to this level with this mindset. They are tough and very good."
What are the challenges of having many young players, albeit with great enthusiasm? Is this the mix you're trying to find?
"Now, we need to complete the team; otherwise, we cannot avoid relegation. We need players who can guide us with their experience. We have two weeks to become a competitive team."
Where are the priorities for strengthening this squad? Varela was a good acquisition as well.
"The club has already made some interesting signings like Akinsanmiro, Kouadio, and Varela. Certainly, some other young talents will arrive. We need reinforcements in defense and attack, someone with experience who can help us."
