Ajax Shows Interest in Leon Bailey Transfer
Ajax is making a move for Leon Bailey. According to the British edition of Sky Sports, the Dutch club has begun initial discussions to ascertain the terms of a potential deal with Aston Villa and is reportedly considering submitting an official offer for the Jamaican attacking winger. Bailey, 29 years old, has one year remaining on his contract with the Villans and could depart Birmingham during this transfer window.
In recent weeks, Hull City also made a determined effort for the player, coming close to finalizing the operation before talks between the two clubs stalled. The English club is now exploring other options, and among the profiles being closely monitored is Niccolò Fortini, a young winger from Fiorentina who is highly fancied by Torino. For Bailey, however, a path to Amsterdam might be opening, with Ajax keen to understand the possibilities of bringing him to the Eredivisie.
This would mark another experience abroad for the former Bayer Leverkusen player, away from England, following his less-than-successful stint with Roma. Bailey joined the Giallorossi in the summer of 2025 on loan from Aston Villa but saw limited playing time, and his adventure in the Italian capital concluded prematurely in the following January. He made a total of 11 appearances for Roma before the mutual termination of his loan and his return to Birmingham.
