US Military Strikes Iranian Military Sites on Larak Island Amidst Blockade Enforcement

August 31, 2026Pablo Navarro1 мин

US forces have reportedly targeted Iranian military installations on Larak Island, marking the first US strikes on Iranian territory in over a month. The US Navy Captain Tim Hawkins confirmed that American forces struck two Iranian launchers on Larak Island, observing that forces from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were observed preparing to launch rockets equipped with sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian media also reported explosions in the vicinity of Larak Island.

This development follows recent assertions by the US that it had completed the removal of Iranian sea mines from the strait's international shipping lanes. In response to the reported strikes, the IRGC issued a statement vowing that the attack "will be answered by the sons of Iran and will result in the punishment of the aggressor."

In parallel, US forces have intensified efforts to enforce a maritime blockade against Iran. The US Central Command announced on Sunday night that dozens of ships have been redirected as part of this operation. As of August 30, CENTCOM forces had redirected 83 commercial vessels, disabled three, and boarded two to ensure compliance with the blockade, which was initially imposed by the US in April after Iran had restricted most international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz in late February.
