Vicenza: Gallo praises deserved win against Catanzaro, highlighting team's grit and quality
Following the home match against Catanzaro, Vicenza coach Fabio Gallo shared his thoughts on the team's performance, defending the group's character against pre-match criticism and outlining future objectives and transfer market strategies.
The Biancorossi manager strongly defended his players' personality, stressing the legitimacy of their victory at the Menti stadium. "I know the work the lads are doing, and often things are said that should be reflected upon. I read that this group wasn't suitable, but the team has shown attributes. We conceded to Catanzaro's quality but then reacted, also thanks to the substitutions. The team has grit, and we'll see about everything else as we progress."
"When you keep a group that won a championship with six games remaining, it means those who arrive must adapt. Once they understand what needs to be done tactically, then grit and quality emerge. In my opinion, we won deservedly; their goalkeeper was the man of the match. If we had drawn, I would have slept very little. Today was a moment, let's enjoy it until midnight, then we immediately have an away game."
Considerable attention was given to squad management, with special mention of individual players and ongoing transfer negotiations to complete the roster. "Alessio and Pellizzari? I never had doubts about them. Filippo is a reliable player, even though he was angry with me for changing his role, so in my opinion, the whole team did very well. Sandon and Zonta were out from the start; I say there are no starters because play is also dictated by the opponents."
"The market? The search for a midfielder and a forward is to have a complete squad. I have respect and an excellent relationship with everyone, even if I don't play some of them."
