Disney+ is set to launch its opulent historical K-drama, The Remarried Empress, on November 4. The series will have its world premiere at the upcoming Busan International Film Festival in the On Screen section.

This ten-episode drama is based on a Naver Webtoon of the same name, which has garnered nearly 3 billion views. It chronicles the troubled marriage of Empress Navier and Emperor Sovieshu. As tensions rise throughout the kingdom, their relationship faces a severe test when the Emperor becomes infatuated with a runaway slave.

Shin Mina, known for her role in Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, portrays Empress Navier. Ju Jihoon (Light Shop) plays Emperor Sovieshu. Lee Jongsuk (Big Mouth) is cast as the Crown Prince whom the Empress considers marrying after her own marriage crumbles. Lee Seyoung (The Red Sleeve) will play Rashta, the escaped slave.

Directed by Cho Suwon (Still 17, Pinocchio), the series was adapted for the screen by Yeoh Geena and Hyun Choongyeol.

The Busan film festival, running from October 6 to 15, will screen the initial three episodes in its On Screen section. Disney+ will then release the first four episodes on November 4, followed by new episodes every Wednesday, concluding with the series finale on November 25.
