Tardelli: Inter favoured, but surprises from Como and Fiorentina possible
As the new Serie A season kicks off, defending champions Inter are naturally considered the frontrunners for the Scudetto. This sentiment is echoed by football icon Marco Tardelli, who shared his insights in an interview with Tuttosport. He stated, "It's a fair, perhaps even obvious, assessment when you look at their squad and what Inter has achieved. However, in football, you never know: for now, Inter is the only team that can realistically aim for the Scudetto, but making predictions is always challenging, especially with the transfer market still open."
Among the teams making significant moves in the transfer market is Como. "I'm certainly very intrigued by them," Tardelli admitted. "They have substantial financial backing, and they're using it wisely. But I must also mention Fiorentina; they've had an excellent transfer window. I believe both are high-calibre teams. Como has already proven its worth, while Fiorentina still needs to demonstrate it. Could Como be in contention for the Scudetto? No. But they could certainly secure a Champions League spot."
Tardelli is also captivated by Fiorentina's project. "Yes, because they've invested wisely," he explained. "I believe they've made good choices, acquiring valuable players and, crucially, a quality coach. And, you know, I'm from Tuscany. Even though I'm from Pisa, which perhaps shouldn't make me say this, I truly hope they do well." He also praised the work done by Paratici so far. "First and foremost, he's chosen a coach who can succeed. Grosso is a serious manager. He's also brought in important players. Even if they were to lose Kean to Como, they've already secured someone like Pellegrino from Parma, who is a physically dominant player."
