Nickelback's Classic Hit "How You Remind Me" Debuts on Billboard Global 200
After more than 30 years in the music industry and over two decades since their breakthrough, Nickelback has achieved a significant milestone: their iconic song "How You Remind Me" has debuted on the Billboard Global 200 chart. This marks the Canadian rock band's first appearance on this worldwide ranking.
The band, which released its debut album in 1996, catapulted to global fame with their 2001 album *Silver Side Up*. While Nickelback has maintained a strong presence in their native Canada and in the United States, their most recent album, *Get Rollin’*, was the first in years not to crack the top 10 on the Billboard 200.
Nickelback Secures First Billboard Global 200 Placement
"How You Remind Me" has entered the Billboard Global 200 at number 181. This chart measures the most popular songs globally, based on sales and streaming data from over 200 territories.
It's noteworthy that the Billboard Global 200 and its counterpart, the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., were only established in 2020. By that time, Nickelback's peak chart dominance had somewhat receded. Many established artists, both classic and contemporary, have yet to chart on these global lists, where even a small surge in popularity can make a difference. This week, that surge was enough to land Nickelback its first global hit.
"How You Remind Me" Featured on Multiple Charts
Beyond its Global 200 debut, "How You Remind Me" is also holding strong on other Billboard charts. It remains at number 5 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart, which tracks the most streamed hard rock tracks in the United States. The song has now been on this chart for an impressive 244 weeks and previously reached as high as number 2.
"How You Remind Me" is one of only two Nickelback songs to appear on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart. Their hit "Rockstar" also made an appearance, debuting and peaking at number 23 in March 2022.
Nickelback's "Rattle the Cage" Reaches New Chart Peaks
Meanwhile, Nickelback's latest single, "Rattle the Cage," a collaboration featuring Mötley Crüe guitarist John 5, is climbing to new heights on various charts. The song has reached number 14 on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart and number 6 on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, with five weeks on both radio rosters.
"Rattle the Cage" also appears on the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, though it saw a slight dip this week, falling from number 6 to number 10 after previously reaching as high as third place.
Nickelback Achieves Another Mainstream Rock Top 10 Hit
With "Rattle the Cage" at number 6 on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, it becomes one of Nickelback's 21 top 10 hits on this particular ranking. The band has topped this chart eight times, including with "How You Remind Me," which is tied for their longest-running number 1, spending 13 weeks at the top, a feat matched by "Figured You Out." "Rattle the Cage" now shares a peak position of number 6 with "This Means War," which also reached that spot in 2012.
"Rattle the Cage" Becomes One of Nickelback's Biggest Airplay Hits
As "Rattle the Cage" climbs to number 14 on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, it surpasses "This Means War" and becomes Nickelback's fourth-highest charting hit on this broad rock radio ranking. Only "Burn It to the Ground," "San Quentin," and "Bottoms Up" have charted higher, all reaching the top 10. "Burn It to the Ground" peaked at number 7, while "San Quentin" and "Bottoms Up" both topped out at number 8.
