LPGA & Irish Open Updates: Yin Leads FM Championship, European Hopes Dim; Maguire Shines in Ireland

Ruoning Yin secured a one-shot lead heading into the final round of the LPGA Tour's FM Championship, following a dramatic chip-in on the final hole. European title aspirations waned in Boston as Yin's impressive performance placed her at 12 under par at TPC Boston after a final-round 68.

Yin's close-range chip from just off the 18th green, coupled with a 20-foot birdie putt on the par-three 16th, propelled her past South Korean duo Sei Young Kim and Hyo Joo Kim, who are one shot behind. Somi Lee and American Jenny Bae trail further back by three strokes.

"I feel my swing is in a good place, my putting and every aspect of my game are quite strong," Yin commented. "I plan to play my own game and be aggressive when the opportunity arises."

This tournament marks the final LPGA Tour event before the Solheim Cup. For Team USA, Lauren Coughlin, Allisen Corpuz, and Lindy Duncan are positioned at seven under heading into the final day.

Miyu Yamashita, who shared the halfway lead, dropped to six shots back with a 75, a stark contrast to her victory in Canada the previous Sunday. Lottie Woad, the highest-ranked English player in the field, sits at five under after a third-round 70.

Top-ranked Nelly Korda is tied for 49th after her third consecutive 72, one stroke behind Charley Hull. European captain Anna Nordqvist is at one over in her final event before retiring from the LPGA Tour.

Maguire Makes Move as Alexander Stays Ahead in Ireland

Casandra Alexander maintains a three-shot lead heading into the final round of the KPMG Women's Irish Open, with Leona Maguire making a significant impact on home soil.

Alexander carded a 69 in challenging, rainy conditions at The K Club, which saw play suspended for 45 minutes due to adverse weather. This performance has put the South African at 18 under par, positioning her for a potential wire-to-wire victory.

Having secured five runner-up finishes this season, Alexander is now aiming for her second Ladies European Tour title. Her closest competitor is Sara Kouskova, who posted a bogey-free 67.

"It was a bit of a slow day out there," Alexander admitted. "The rain made conditions tough on and off the course. I had a couple of lip-outs, but it was still a good round. I'm still leading heading into Sunday, so no complaints."

Sweden's Kajsa Arwefjall matched the round of the week with a nine-under 63, elevating her to fourth place at 13 under. She is followed by compatriots Corinne Viden and Louise Rydqvist. Maguire also shot a 63, matching Arwefjall, to move into a tie for sixth place.

"I knew a low score was possible today," Maguire shared. "I didn't play significantly better than yesterday, but I holed more putts and hit it a little closer. I felt I left a few shots out there, but it was a good moving day."
