CAVA Women’s League: Nepal Police Club, Iran’s Foolad Mobarakeh Sepahan Win on Day 2
Day two of the CAVA Women's League showcased thrilling Pool B encounters on February 5th, held at the Social Center Indoor Hall in Malé, Maldives. Teams representing Nepal, Uzbekistan, Iran, and the Maldives competed in two high-stakes matches.
The day's first match saw Nepal Police Club (NPC) from Nepal achieve a 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan’s Humo VC after an engaging 1 hour and 53 minutes of play. NPC started strong, claiming the first set 30-28, but Humo VC quickly responded with a 25-21 win in the second. Nepal Police Club then regained control, decisively winning the third and fourth sets with scores of 25-21 and 25-23, respectively, to secure the match.
Bhandari Usha was the leading scorer for Nepal Police Club with an impressive 26 points, complemented by Chand Punam's 22 points. For Humo VC, Tursunpulatova Malikakhon topped their scoring with 18 points, with additional contributions from Zebokhon Absamatova and Boymirzaeva Dilnoza.
The second Pool B clash featured Iran's Foolad Mobarakeh Sepahan facing Huraa Community Club from the Maldives. Sepahan emerged victorious with a 3-1 win in a match lasting 1 hour and 26 minutes. The Iranian side comfortably won the opening set 25-14. Huraa managed to rally and claim the second set 25-23, but Sepahan swiftly concluded the match by winning the third and fourth sets with dominant scores of 25-14 and 25-12.
Khalili Chermahini Fatemeh stood out for Sepahan, scoring 19 points, while Veronica Zubareva led Huraa Community Club with 10 points.
These results significantly strengthened the positions of Nepal Police Club and Foolad Mobarakeh Sepahan within Pool B. Humo VC and Huraa Community Club will now look to rebound in their upcoming matches.
