Brighton Reject Liverpool's £60m Bid for Yankuba Minteh

Brighton & Hove Albion has reportedly rejected a £60 million (approximately €71 million) offer from Liverpool for their winger Yankuba Minteh.

Sources indicate that this latest bid from the Merseyside club did not meet Brighton's valuation, following an earlier unsuccessful proposal of £50 million for the 22-year-old Gambian international.

Minteh is currently sidelined due to an injury that is expected to keep him out until October. Brighton is also dealing with the absence of Kaoru Mitoma, who has been out of action since May with a hamstring issue.

In related transfer news, Brighton is reportedly close to an agreement with Manchester United for the sale of midfielder Carlos Baleba, with the deal understood to be worth over £60 million.

Liverpool Prioritizes Wide Attacking Reinforcements

Liverpool has made reinforcing their wide attacking positions a primary objective during the current transfer window. The club has already secured the signing of Victor Munoz from Osasuna.

As part of their efforts to strengthen in wide areas, Liverpool is exploring several options, with Minteh being one of the players they are monitoring.

The Reds have also been pursuing Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain and remain in discussions with the French champions. However, PSG's high valuation of £145 million (approximately €172 million) is proving to be a significant obstacle, as Liverpool is unwilling to meet that asking price at this time.

Hurzeler: Player Links to Other Clubs Are Normal

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has commented on the frequent transfer speculation surrounding his players, stating that it's a natural consequence of the club's recent success.

Minteh and Baleba are the latest Brighton players to attract significant transfer interest, adding to the departures of Jan Paul van Hecke to Tottenham and Danny Welbeck to Chelsea earlier in the window.

Speaking ahead of their season opener against Aston Villa, live on Sky Sports, Hurzeler acknowledged the situation: "We know in general, all the players who there are rumours about are important players, they've been part of the journey over the last two years.

"It's normal that if a team is doing well, then there will be a big ask for players. That's part of my job here, it's part of our identity.

"We can go through every individual player, we know how important they are but we know good achievements, big achievements, you create a lot of attention and therefore we have to wait now.

"The situation will evolve. I'm not here to complain, I'm here to find solutions."
