LEE ANN MACERELLI - No Panic 13s Assistant Coach
Coach Lee Ann grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA and moved to the Northern VA area in 1998. Prior to volleyball, she started playing softball in the 6th grade and continued through high school. She loved the idea of being in a team environment where you work and support each other while watching your skills improve each year. During her Sophomore year, Coach Lee Ann was introduced to a group of friends who were playing backyard volleyball and were also members of the Hempfield Area High School volleyball team. Being athletic, she joined in one of their games and was immediately hooked. She then decided to tryout for the high school team and made the JV team her first year and Varsity her Junior and Senior year.
Since then, Coach Lee Ann continued to play competitively by joining various leagues after her move to the Northern VA area. Ultimately, she wanted to share her passion with her daughter and decided to coach with Loudoun Youth Volleyball and Dulles Youth Volleyball prior to joining No Panic Volleyball.
NPV: What attracted you to coaching with No Panic Volleyball?
COACH LEE ANN: After meeting the coaches from NPV and getting to know them better, I realized the philosophy of coaching was in alignment with mine. My goal is to teach the girls to always do their best, to be good sports women, to be humble winners and graceful losers, to always try to make improvements and do their best every time. I want the girls to have fun and enjoy the sport.
NPV: What part of your life and philosophy would you like to have players incorporate in their own lives?
COACH LEE ANN: My goal is to have the players try to do better every day and have a positive impact on someone in my life. Whether it be at school, at work, or in life, you should always try to make incremental improvements in those things you do, and challenge yourself outside your comfort zone. At the end of the day, we should reflect back on our decisions and actions on the day, and what we could do tomorrow to make the world a nicer place.
NPV:Who is your favorite volleyball influencer and why?
COACH LEE ANN: Kerri Walsh Jennings inspired me as she competed at the Olympics as a mom. Balancing a successful career in professional sports with responsibilities of parenting is no easy task. Her partnership with Misty May-Treanor reflected the characteristic supportive partnership needed in volleyball and in life to succeed.
Coach Lee Ann went to Butler County Community College for Associate in Applied Science, Physical Therapist Assistant, Strayer University, Bachelor in Business Administration andGeorge Washington University, Masters in Information System Technology. She enjoys reading Civil War historical fiction, visiting Revolutionary War and Civil war historical sites, quilting, and spending time with her family.
