(known as “Petty” to some)

She played right-side, outside hitter, and defense specialist while at Cal U. Her freshman year, Cal won their first ever PSAC (PA State Athletic Conference) title. By her junior year, Cal U became honorable mention to NCAA, DII top 25. After college, she came home to Sterling and joined a USAV women’s team, helped with many volleyball clinics/camps in the area, and played in many local leagues/tournaments (indoors/outdoors, doubles, triples, 4s, 6s, coed, reverse coed). She started coaching with Dean Shumway many years ago, in the15s and 16s age groups for NVVA. In 2004, she started officiating high school games in Loudoun County. She became the Assistant Varsity Coach for Broad Run in 2005 and after 3 years was promoted to Head Coach, a position she still holds today. She got married in May 2008 and is living in Charles Town, WV with their dog.
Ellen joined No Panic in their second year as a club as the Head Coach of the 15s Reloaded team. She led that team through a very successful season, culminating in a 3rd place Gold Division finish at SAC in Richmond. Last year, Ellen was the Head Coach of 17s A-Team at No Panic, which finished the season seeded 6th of 40 teams in the CHRVA rankings. Ellen’s proven track record of building strong teams and her extensive experience with Varsity high school players makes her an excellent choice to assist with No Panic’s 17s team this year.
