DAVID SPRINGER - SpringFit Director

Coach Springer, originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, has his B.S in Exercise Physiology-Sports Medicine at East Stroudsburg University. With a desire to mentor young athletes, as well as professional athletes, he quickly pursued internships with various professional sports organizations. Coach Springer also worked within the Washington Redskins organization from 1999-2005. Springer continued his career in private, personal training in the Washington D.C. area by starting his own business SPRINGFIT in 1993. Springfit Personal Training and Wellness has been successfully training clients from the novice to the elite professional athlete for over 24 years. A swimmer who achieved All-American status, a baseball player and a collegiate football player, Coach Springer realized he was most influential in the training and mentoring of athletes, inspiring them to reach their maximum potential and encouraging them to strive for their highest goals. He has been developing and increasing athletes’ speed, agility, power, strength, and endurance where hard work always beats talent. In 2006, Coach Springer saw the need to specialize more. He started a division of Springfit called Springfit Performance to assist his daughter’s and other athletes in soccer, swimming, volleyball, baseball and football reach peak performance. Coach Springer not only promotes fitness and wellness, he believes in incorporating nutritional education and injury prevention to inspire and educate clients.

Coach Springer is affiliated with the following: American College of Sports Medicine, National Academy of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association, and American Alliance for Health Recreation and Dance. Other professional teams Coach Springer has worked with are the Buffalo Bills & Phoenix Suns.

BRANDON BEHR - SpringFit Assistant Director

Health and fitness has played a huge part in Brandon’s life ever since he can remember. Growing up in Royersford, PA, a small suburban town just west of Philadelphia (yes, he’s a huge Eagles fan), Brandon began playing sports at an early age. He was a competitive swimmer and soccer player all through high school, but as the transition into college approached, he decided to make the change from being the athlete to treating and training athletes. With an extreme interest in the medical field as well as athletics, Brandon earned his bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. There he completed clinical rotations with WCU’s Division II Football and Women’s Gymnastics teams as he became a Certified Athletic Trainer.


As soon as Brandon graduated high school he began coaching youth swimming which continued throughout college. The satisfaction of coaching and training kids in and out of the pool really sparked his interest in the performance side of athletics. After working as a Certified Personal Trainer for LA Fitness for a year, Brandon made the move to Northern Virginia in February 2016 to begin his career as a Strength and Conditioning Coach with Springfit Performance. In addition to training youth athletes at Springfit, he also holds a position as a Personal Trainer and Wellness Coach at the YMCA Fairfax County Reston branch.


Ashley is a Certified Nutrition Specialist and a graduate of the Maryland University of Integrative Health with a Masters in Nutrition Science and Integrative Health. Ashley recognizes that the foundation of health is what we eat and our dietary choices can either steer us towards health or away from it. She helps her clients reach their goals and achieve wellness by providing a personalized approach to nutrition therapy. Ashley considers all aspects of a client’s lifestyle when creating a realistic nutrition plan that can include meal planning, grocery shopping tours, supplement recommendations, nutrition education and cognitive behavior strategies. She is also experienced in giving workshops and cooking demos on topics related to nutrition and integrative health.

Training the Mind to Maximize Athletic Performance

A former collegiate volleyball player at James Madison University, Ellen understands the performance rigors and expectations of highly competitive environments. As principal owner of her private practice of performance coaching and counseling she enjoys training others to positively navigate and resolve emotional challenges and conflicts to minimize their negative effects on performance in family, social, school and work relationships as well as in athletic endeavors. She has coached girls’ club volleyball in the Northern Virginia area and is IMPACT and CAP I certified. Ellen works with collegiate, high school and club volleyball players and other athletes, parents, coaches and organizational leadership and currently serves as president of the JMU Volleyball Alumni Association.


Having worked with adolescents, adults, couples and families for over a decade, Ellen is the dedicated to helping people improve their performance by quickly understanding core concerns and needs. She employs integrated brain-body training techniques to allow optimal individual and team performance. She helps improve performance by facilitating skill improvements in the following areas: managing emotions and physical energy, concentration and focused attention, tolerating stress and frustration, building confidence, relaxation, performance anxiety, psychological recovery from injury, motivation, positive error recovery, positive self-talk, effective communication skills, conflict resolution and team-building skills.


She incorporates the most current evidence-based neurobiology research to educate and provide a foundation for improvement with for volleyball-specific applications for individuals, coaches, organizational leadership, parents and teams.
